Our approach to our resources
-
We are a collective of professionals from diverse fields using evidence based, restorative & transformative approaches to respond to sexual harm.
We believe that justice can be healing and know that many people need access to free or low cost services to have their needs met. We partner with values aligned organisations to support their work in the community.
We commit to growing evidence & understanding of transformative and restorative justice, and sharing our resource of experience & knowledge where invited.
We commit to the advocacy needed to enables choices for justice and healing from sexual harm.
-
We support people to find a meaningful sense of justice and pathways to healing.
Our work is complex, sensitive and not well understood. Governments and many funders see this work as full of 'risk'. We see people, families and communities who are responding to complex situations that need complex solutions.
-
Sometimes we ask or approach individuals and organisations responsible for causing harm, to make a donation or directly fund our work.
This enables Transforming Justice to cover our costs and any revenue we make enables more free and accessible services in the community.
However we would never want cost or access to resources to limit access to restorative or transformative justice.
-
We provide fee services to individuals and organisations in our focus areas of practice, research, training and consulting.
All revenue raised through our fee services enables us to provide free and accessible services in the community.
Our funders & supporters
We are grateful for the auspicing, administrative and accounting support from Community Restorative Centre. We are grateful for the trust of people with lived experience of sexual abuse or who have caused harm. We receive training and professional supervision from Community Justice Initiatives, Ontario Canada.
We connect with peers and colleagues through our connections in Oceania and international practices.
We are grateful to our many professional mentors and build on the work of the restorative community in Australia and around the world; a movement which brings together people from many disciplines and with both lived and learnt knowledge. We acknowledge and benefit from the amazing advisors, supporters, supervisors and allies from across Australia, New Zealand and internationally.
Without these relationships our work would not exist.
